Prince William and Princess Catherine visit Pontypridd in wake of devastating Storm Bert floods

It was a chance for the Prince and Princess of Wales to live up to their royal titles in Pontypridd yesterday as they baked Welsh cakes for the flood-ravaged community.
It marked the couple’s first visit to Wales together since Princess Catherine revealed the start of her cancer treatment last March.
The couple were getting hands on in the aptly named bakery The Welsh Cake shop to mark the upcoming St David’s Day with the Prince asking owner Theresa Conner if his dough was thick enough.

William turned to Ms Conner with a smile: “Well I don’t know, my stunning baker skills, Mary Berry taught me everything I need to know.”
The pair crafted the Welsh delicacies on a hot plate, with Ms Conner’s daughter Madison, giving them a Royal thumbs up: “They’re perfect, they’re great - they’re bangin’.”
The pair also used the visit to check on residents and businesses impacted by the storms which struck the region in November, causing the River Taff to burst its banks and swamp the town.
Pontypridd barbershop owner Josh Downes told William and Catherine how the floods left him with a damage bill worth thousands of pounds.
“[It was] more of a conversation about how we keep flooding and how much stress it must be causing owning a business in Ponty[Pontypridd] with the constant worry of flooding on your mind,” he said.
