Matildas star Sam Kerr has been spotted looking relaxed in Paris as prosecutors in London scramble to gather evidence for her upcoming legal battle.

The Aussie striker, 30, looked at ease dressed head-to-toe in black as she attended a Nike event in the French capital this week.

Kerr’s visit to Paris comes as a UK court granted prosecutors pursuing her over alleged racial abuse in 2023 a second extension to submit case papers after they were unable to gather enough evidence for her cross-examination.

Barristers for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) were due to lodge papers on Tuesday after being granted an initial two-day extension but told Kingston Crown Court they had not yet received written statements and exhibits including CCTV footage from police, despite their requests.

The CPS now have until April 23 to lodge documents.

Kerr is accused of racially harassing a police officer — identified only as PC Lovell by authorities — when he was called to diffuse a dispute over a taxi fare outside Twickenham Police Station in South West London on January 30 last year.

It is alleged the Australian called the cop a “stupid white bastard” or “stupid white cop”.

She was charged almost a year later with using insulting, threatening or abusive words that caused alarm or distress to the officer.

Kerr pleaded not guilty to the offence at a court appearance in March, and is due to face trial in February 2025.

However, her lawyers are set to argue an abuse of process at a pre-trial hearing on April 26 and seek to have the charge downgraded or dropped.
