Teen ends up on road after horror jetski crash in Alabama’s Lake Martin

A 12-year-old girl has been flung from her jetski onto a road after a terrifying crash over the weekend.
The Alabama girl is lucky to be alive after smashing a 2024 Sea-Doo 300 into a causeway while travelling nearly 60km/h and going airborne.
The girl had been towing another girl of the same age on a knee board on Lake Martin. Luckily, the second child let go of the tow rope moments before the crash and was not injured.

Resident Harrison Hunt told local media outlet WTVM9 that he was one of the first on the scene.
“I walked over and saw a girl laying on the ground. I asked if there was anything that I could get, you know Medical supplies. So the answer was yes. So I ran back to my house, got some gauze and tape and ran back and helped get her leg patched up.”
Heather McConnell, who was on her boat when the crash happened, said she saw the frantic emergency response to the crash unfold.
“I saw activity over here, which is kind of unusual,” she said.
“I saw cars lined up and people standing around and then we went out. We didn’t go out very long. And then when we came back in, we heard a helicopter circling. And then we heard it land and then it was probably here about 15, 20 minutes and then I heard it take back off.”
Police say they have issued a boating traffic citation to Jennifer F. Hartsfield, the 43-year-old registered owner of the jetski, over the incident.
It is not clear how she knows the injured girl.
Under Alabama law, 12-year-olds are only allowed to drive jetskis on their own if they have a passenger aged 21 or older on board who has a vessel operator’s licence.
Age restrictions for the use of jetskis in Australia vary from State to State.
An investigation into the Alabama incident is underway.
