Mary Ann Magdamit: Los Angeles postie admits to stealing credit cards from mail for years

A woman has pleaded guilty to stealing hundreds of cheques, debit cards and credit cards from mail she was trusted to deliver safely in her work as a postie.
Mary Ann Magdamit, 31, spent years running the scheme, keeping some of the cards for herself, and selling others to accomplices.
She used the money for extravagant holidays and luxury items, which she posted about on her social media.

Police searched her apartment and found 133 stolen credit and debit cards, 16 US Department of Treasury cheques and a loaded gun with an extended 27-round magazine.
They also discovered hoards of luxury goods purchased with the stolen cards.
Investigators found that Magdamit’s illegal actions also funded several international trips to the Turks and Caicos Islands as well as Aruba.
The US Attorney’s Office of the Central District of California said she pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud.
The plea agreement and court documents reveal that Magdamit’s scheme ran from 2022 until July 2025.
The mail she stole not only contained cheques and bank cards, but also personal identity information.
After stealing the cards, she would activate them online and either use them to make purchases or sell them to her co-conspirators.
Magdamit arranged for some of these people to cash the stolen cheques by using counterfeit identity documents.
On Instagram, she posted herself with stacks of hundred-dollar bills.

She will be sentenced on October 27 by US District Judge John F Walter, and faces a maximum penalty of 30 years imprisonment.
Social media users were shocked by Magdamit’s criminal activity, and also her decision to post her earnings online.
“She don’t know NOTHING about moving in silence. Not that I’m condoning what she did,” one Facebook user wrote
“Dammit! Magdamit! What have you done! Did you really need to flaunt on social media? Flaunting is never smart. Insecurity and greed and (arrogance) will always be the cause of man’s fall down,” another wrote.
“Idiot for committing the crime first of all... then to brag about a crime on social media is just another level of ‘stupid’. True narcissism, to think her behaviour would go unnoticed. Not very bright!” another posted.
