Oklahoma dog attack: Janelle Scott has all four limbs amputated after vicious mauling in US

A woman has had all four of her limbs amputated after a horrendous dog attack while on a bike ride with her boyfriend left her with catastrophic injuries.

Janelle Scott was cycling with her partner in Oklahoma when two dogs set upon her and began a vicious mauling that left her in a critical condition.

The two pit bulls were roaming the Okmulgee area on September 9 when the incident occurred, Ms Scott’s family said via a GoFundMe page set up to assist with the mounting hospital bills..

Local news outlet, News 9, spoke to Ms Scott’s mother, Cheryl, who said her daughter’s boyfriend was riding behind her at the time and rushed to fight the dogs off his girlfriend, before calling emergency services for assistance.

Okmulgee Police said they found Ms Scott suffering “from significant and severe injuries” and that one of the dogs died during the fight with her boyfriend.

“There is an RV-type trailer located in this area, and it is reported that the dog(s) were kept within this trailer,” police said.

“This trailer had reportedly been broken into at some point in the evening, which may have released the animals from confinement.”

The extent of Ms Scott’s injuries has been so significant that doctors continue to reassess surgeries, and unfortunately, they have had to remove parts of all four of Ms Scott’s limbs.

Initially, her right arm and left leg were amputated, but she later required further surgery to amputate the other two limbs, one heartbreaking update stated.

“Well, I come with more sadness. My Daughter has to go back to Surgery on Tuesday and have more amputating on her right arm and maybe on one of her legs,” Cheryl Scott said.

“I pray that her body has the Strength for more Surgery. So could you all PLEASE keep her in your prayers I’m a true believer in how powerful prayers are.

“Remember, we’re strong women, and we’re going to beat this,” .

Family members have also have been providing updates via the GoFundMe page.

“Hello everyone, my name is Shay, and my cousin Nellie was attacked by 2 pit bulls on September 9th and is currently still in the hospital. Nellie had her right arm amputated and just got her left leg amputated” one update said.

“My aunt Cheryl is missing work to stay by her side and take care of her daughter. Any donations are greatly appreciated. God bless everyone even if you can’t donate please pray a share.

“All donations will be used for medical bills and to help my aunt pay her bills since she is missing work so that she can be there for my cousin.”

The GoFundMe has raised over $US16,000 to date.
