UFO files: US Department of War releases second batch of files sparking wild theories among online communities
The US Department of War released a second tranche of files relating to ‘alien and extraterrestrial life’ last week — and this batch has got the UFO community talking.
The US Department of War released a second tranche of files relating to ‘alien and extraterrestrial life’ last week, with some taking it as proof of existence beyond our own.
In a post to Truth Social in February, US President Donald Trump said he had authorised the revelant agencies “to begin the process of identifying and releasing government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs), and any and all other information connected to these highly complex, but extremely interesting and important, matters.”
After the first file dump on May 8, a second load of files consisting of 46 videos was released on May 22 — and this batch has got the UFO community talking.

The almost five-minute video follows a strange, unidentifiable object in the sky above a body of water.
“The object almost appears humanoid, with visible arms and legs,” the user added.
“Could this be the most convincing UFO or alien footage ever made public?”
The post garnered mixed reactions from X users, with some adding their own theories and others debunking the footage outright.
“The most convincing aspect of this is that it doesn’t appear to be humanoid,” one person said. “It has an unexplainable biological shape.”

Another refuted the claims with a basic explanation.
“This is literally a guy wearing a jetpack,” they said. “Of ALL the videos in the release, this is by FAR the LEAST interesting and most easily explainable for anyone with more than two braincells to rub together.”

Another video released by the DoW titled “Spherical UAP erratic movement” also sparked debates online.
A user by the name of Shem Horne posted a 40 second clip of the video with the caption, “Ok what the heck is this!? Seriously!!”

“I am freaking out right now,” he said. “For real.”
Some agreed with the sentiment, however, most passed off the strange object as nothing more than a drone.
According to the description provided by the DoW, the video “is likely derived from an infrared sensor aboard a US military platform operating in the United States European Command area of responsibility in August 2022.”

In a statement provided alongside the file dump, US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, said the release demonstrates the Trump Administration’s commitment to transparency.
“These files, hidden behind classifications, have long fueled justified speculation — and it’s time the American people see it for themselves,” he said.
“This release of declassified documents demonstrates the Trump Administration’s earnest commitment to unprecedented transparency.”
