Chris Baghsarian: More charges laid over alleged kidnapping and murder of 85-year-old grandfather

More charges have been laid over the alleged kidnapping and murder of Sydney grandfather Chris Baghsarian.

Chris Baghsarian went missing from his North Ryde home earlier this year in what police say was a case of mistaken identity.

Emergency services were called just after 5am on February 13 following reports the 85-year-old had been abducted from the property.

Officers from Ryde Police Area Command responded before detectives from State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad launched a coordinated investigation under Strike Force Chabot.

Police allege Mr Baghsarian was not the intended target of the kidnapping.

His remains were later located about 8am on February 24, near a golf club in Pitt Town, in Sydney’s north-west.

Six people have previously been charged in relation to Mr Baghsarian’s kidnapping and death.

Around 5.20am on Thursday, police executed a search warrant at a property in Canley Vale, Sydney.

Police allege the home was where a Toyota Corolla was stored, which was then used to relocate Mr Baghsarian’s body.

The vehicle was left partially destroyed in Westmead.

During Thursday’s search, seized a rifle, $66,300 in cash, 11 grams of cocaine, five ecstasy tablets, one gram of cannabis, steroids, a black mask, and electronic devices.

A 23-year-old man was arrested and charged with knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime, supplying a prohibited drug, three counts of prohibited drug possession, and possession of a prescribed restricted substance.

He was released on bail and is set to appear in court on August 5.

Police are now appealing for the public’s help to locate another vehicle of interest, a blue Mitsubishi Lanced sedan.

The Mitsubishi was seen driving on the M5 in Moorebank on February 2 and on Vimiera Road in Marsfield on February 12.
