A 27-year-old man is in hospital with stab wounds after a terrifying late-night altercation.

Police were called to a Deception Bay address at around 11.20pm after receiving reports of a dispute.

Police allege the dispute escalated before a 26-year-old man stabbed a 27-year-old in the leg with a knife.

The alleged offender fled the scene but was apprehended nearby a short time later.

The injured man was treated by officers before being transported to hospital in a stable condition.

The 26-year-old man from Urangan has been charged with wounding and is set to appear in Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Friday.
