Adelaide police have stormed into a burning unit to save an elderly woman overnight.

A South Australian police officer has rescued an elderly woman from her burning home and carried her to safety.

Police were first on the scene after emergency services were called to the woman’s unit on Military Rd in the Adelaide suburb of Semaphore South about 12.30am on Thursday.

An officer saw flames coming from the unit, and a 90-year-old woman collapsed at the front door, unable to get out due to mobility issues.
