Man charged with stealing camera equipment from Bondi victim Peter Meagher

A 35-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly stole camera equipment from a victim of the Bondi Beach massacre.

A 35-year-old man has been charged allegedly with stealing camera equipment belonging to Peter Marr, a 61-year-old retired police officer and photographer who was killed in the December terror attack at Bondi.

A man has been charged with stealing camera equipment from retired police officer and photographer Peter Meagher after he was killed in the Bondi Beach attack.

Police say that in the aftermath of the December 14 massacre, detectives noticed Mr Meagher’s camera equipment had been stolen.

Officers searched a Marayong home on Wednesday, where they arrested a 35-year-old man who police say was also a photographer at the Hannukah event.

Police allege the man stole Mr Meagher’s camera equipment before pawning it days later.

During their search of the home, police found a camera, handcuffs and a number of electronic devices.

Officers allegedly also found a small amount of “white crystal powder” inside a car.

The man was taken to Riverstone Police Station, where he was charged with larceny of an item worth more than $2000, disposing of stolen property, producing false information to a licensee, possessing a prohibited weapon without a permit, and supplying and possessing prohibited drugs.

The man will appear before Blacktown Local Court on June 22.

Mr Meagher was one of 15 innocents killed when two gunmen allegedly opened fire on a crowd of Jewish people gathered for a Hannukah celebration.

A celebrated member of the eastern suburbs rugby community, Mr Meagher - known as “Marzo” by those close to him - spent nearly a decade managing Randwick Rugby Club’s first grade side following his forty-year career in the NSW Police Force.
