A man’s body has been found in far-southwest NSW, prompting police to seek public assistance in identifying him.

The body, believed to be a man in his 50s, was found on Log Bridge Rd in Wentworth about 9am on Thursday while police were responding to reports of a scrub fire.

The man’s body, which has yet to be formally identified, was discovered during a search of the area.

His death is being treated as suspicious, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.

A crime scene has been established and subjected to forensic examination.

A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Police are urging anyone who was in the vicinity of Wentworth and Log Bridge Rd area over the past week and may have information, CCTV footage, or dashcam vision to come forward.
