Coolah Tops National Park: Tragic twist as body of believed missing woman located in Hunter Valley region

Police have located a body during the search for a woman missing from the Hunter region since last week.

The 25-year-old was last seen in the Merriwa area about 1pm on Saturday, 6 September.

When she could not be reached, officers from Hunter Valley Police District launched inquiries into her whereabouts.

About 3.30pm on Tuesday, police discovered the body of a woman in bushland within Coolah Tops National Park.

While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing woman.

Anyone with any information has been encouraged by authorities to contact Crime Stoppers.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
