Cop tragically found dead in police station remembered
A NSW cop who died at a Sydney police station has been identified.
Senior Constable Mark Hobson, 52, was found dead at Sydney Police Centre, on Goulburn Street in Surry Hills, on Monday.
His death is being treated as a suicide and a critical investigation is underway.

During his career, he spent time working in the State Technical Investigations Branch.
His father, Ian, is a retired sergeant and it’s understood another male relative also served on the force.
NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb visited the station and said it was a “very sad day for the NSW Police Force”.
“Our hearts go out to the officer’s family,” she said. “Every support will be made available for staff and family affected by this tragedy.”
Tributes have since flowed online for Senior Constable Hobson, with one former officer who worked alongside him describing him as a “nice young man”.
“(He was) always helpful (and) assisted operations with major jobs,” he wrote. “RIP brother.”
“So, so awful,” another said. “I just wish he could have seen through the mist.”
“It does get better, I promise.”
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
