Hadi Nazari: Mystery deepens during search for missing bushwalker in Koscuiszko National Park

A protracted search is continuing for an experienced hiker after rubbish and hiking poles were discovered, but still no sign of the man himself.

The multi-agency search resumed on Thursday for Hadi Nazari, aged 23, who was last seen by friends about 2.30pm on Boxing Day, descending the Hannels Spur Trail, Geehi, between Khancoban and Thredbo, in the Koscuiszko National Park.

The three men were expected to meet up at the Geehi campground; however, when he failed to arrive, the two friends, aged 23 and 24, began to search for him.

Officers attached to the Riverina Police District were alerted about 8.45pm, and commenced patrols by vehicle and on foot, assisted by the SES, but without success.

Lat Friday, a command post was established, and a multi-agency search commenced involving Goulburn Police Rescue, officers attached to Riverina police district, assisted by National Parks and Wildlife Service, SES, NSW Ambulance, VRA and Polair.

As the search entered its fifth day, a number of items, including rubbish and hiking poles, were located on Tuesday, which are believed to belong to Mr Nazari.

The large-scale search to try and locate Mr Nazari continues.
