Hume Highway Oolong: Truck driver killed and another trapped for over seven hours after horrific NSW crash

A truck driver has been trapped for eight hours after a horrific crash that claimed another driver’s life on one of NSW’s busiest motorways.

Police, fire rescue and ambulance services are the scene of the fatal truck crash at Oolong in the state’s south.

At about 1.15am on thursday, emergency services were called to the Hume Highway, near Pedell Lane, Oolong, about 35km east of Yass, following reports of the crash.

Officers attached to the Hume Police District attended and found a B-Double truck had left the roadway and rolled, before a second B-Double truck travelling behind crashed into the rear.

The male driver of one of the trucks died at the scene.

The second driver is in a critical condition.

All southbound traffic has been diverted to the Federal and Barton Highways.

Police have established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
