The US Embassy in North Sydney has been evacuated and locked down after a suspicious package was found in the street outside the building.
Emergency services scrambled to the scene after the package was identified and the alert was sent to investigate.
The area around Miller Street was closed off by at least 10 police cars and fire and rescue crews as the package was indentified.

NSW Police confirmed an operation in North Sydney commenced shortly before 8am on Wednesday “due to concerns about an unknown item on the footpath”.
Miller Street was blocked between the Pacific Highway and Blue Street was cordoned off while the package was checked.
The flow-on effect in Sydney’s busiest peak hour area, the Harbour Bridge and surrounds has brought traffic to standstill in both directions with significant delays for the morning commute.
The area has been declared safe and all roads are re-opening.
