Man and woman charged following M5 police chase in Riverwood

A man and woman have been charged following a police chase in Sydney’s southwest.
NSW Police had been patrolling Belmore Road in Riverwood on Wednesday afternoon when they observed a white Range Rover driving erratically.
“Officers attempted to stop the car for the purpose of a breath test, and when it allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated,” police said.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.The pursuit continued onto the M5 where the vehicle came to a stop. The three occupants were removed and searched, with police allegedly seizing an amount of drugs and a knife.
A man, who police allege was the driver, and a woman, were arrested and taken to Kogarah Police Station.
The 41-year-old man was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, driving a motor vehicle during a disqualification period and hindering or resisting a police officer in the execution of duty.
The 31-year-old woman was charged with hindering or resisting a police officer in the execution of duty, supplying a prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity and possessing a prohibited drug.
Both were refused bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court on Thursday.
The third occupant was not arrested.
