A couple has been stabbed during a terrifying home invasion while their children slept in Western Sydney.
The family of five was in bed when two men wearing face coverings forced their way into the home on McCredie Rd in Guildford West about 11 pm on Saturday.

Neighbours heard the family’s cries for help and came to their aid, prompting the intruders to flee in a white sedan parked out the front of the home.
A third person was reportedly driving the getaway car, which was last seen heading south along Lomond St.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the couple before rushing them to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
No weapon has been recovered.

Police believe the attack was a case of mistaken identity, Detective Superintendent Simon Glass said.
“We believe they were looking for someone in particular and left when they were chased out,” Glass said.
“However, the family involved have no criminal links, so we believe they were after somebody else.”
Glass said it is believed to be a targeted attack, but the intended target is unknown at this stage.
Glass described the neighbours’ actions as “very courageous”, but warned people to be cautious in such situations.
“Obviously we want people to be cautious when they’re acting like that, but on occasions where people are being attacked, you need to do what you can do to assist,” Glass said.
“But if people aren’t in danger, we ask that people not approach and contact police.”
He said the two intruders were dressed in black tops with hoods and white sneakers.
“As inquiries continue, police are urging anyone with information about the matter, or was in the area at the time with any available dashcam or mobile phone footage, to contact Granville Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” police said.
