A man has died in hospital after he was pulled from the water at a surf park in Sydney’s west.

The 70-year-old was rescued by a lifesaver at URBNSURF in Sydney Olympic Park just before midday on Wednesday.

Paramedics performed CPR on the man at the site before taking him to Concord Hospital.

“He was pronounced deceased a short time later,” NSW Police said in a statement.

It is believed he suffered a medical episode on the site, URBNSURF told The Daily Telegraph earlier.

“The URBNSURF team responded to provide support and care for the guest before paramedics arrived,” it said.

“Our main priority is the health, safety and wellbeing of our guests and staff and our thoughts are with them at this time.

“The park will remain closed until further notice.”

Police are investigating although the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
