NSW Police manhunt for arsonist setting fires in Edgecliff, Paddington

Police have released images as a manhunt continues for a firebug who is terrorising local residents in some of Sydney’s most affluent suburbs.

Investigators are appealing for public assistance to locate the man who is wanted in relation to several suspicious fires in the eastern suburbs.

At about 3.20am on Tuesday, emergency services were called to Reddy Street at Edgecliff following reports of a car on fire.

Emergency services attended the scene and found a white Mitsubishi SUV well alight before Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze which had destroyed the car.

There have been no reports of injuries and a crime scene was established.

Not long after police located a burnt chair at the intersection of Glenmore Road and Cascade Street, Paddington and believe a fire on Jersey Road, Paddington on Thursday September 19, 2024 and the other two incidents are linked.

The images show a man police believe was in the vicinity at the time of the car fire and he is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180 tall, of medium build, with neck length black hair.
