Princes Highway Waterfall: Cyclist killed after car collision as investigators close major roadway

Crash scene investigators have closed the Princes Highway in NSW after a horror collision between a cyclist and car left a woman dead.

The female cyclist died following the crash in Sydney’s south at around 8am on Tuesday before emergency services were called to the Princes Highway, Waterfall, following reports the cyclist had been struck by a car.

NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived to treat the female rider, however, she died at the scene.

The woman is yet to be formally identified, but is believed to be aged in her 70s.

The female driver, aged 23, was taken to Sutherland Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Sutherland Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

All southbound lanes of the Princes Highway are closed at Waterfall and motorists are advised to avoid the area. Light vehicles are being diverted into McKell Avenue and heavy vehicles are being parked up.
