Parramatta: Police appeal for assistance to find man spotted jumping from burning boat in Sydney

Mystery surrounds a missing man who was seen jumping from a burning boat, as police appeal to the public for information to track him down.

The man was reported missing after his boat caught fire and sank in the Parramatta River in Sydney last weekend.

At about 12.15pm on Saturday, emergency services were called to Rodd Island, off Rodd Point, following reports of a vessel fire.

Officers attached to Burwood Police area command and marine area command arrived to find a moored yacht and two attached tender boats/dinghies alight.

Fire and Rescue NSW officers attended and extinguished the blaze, however the vessel sunk.

Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.

Investigators have spoken with a witness who reported seeing a man jump from the burning vessel but he is yet to be located.

Police hold concerns for the missing boat owner, Christopher Hudson, aged 52, who was last seen on board a tender boat/dinghy on Christmas Day, 2024.

Christopher is described as being of Caucasian appearance, of slim build, about 175cm to 180cm tall, with a shaved head and green eyes.

A police operation continues in the area, with police divers examining the damaged vessel, its contents, and the surrounding areas.
