St Marys crash victim revealed as father of seven Lual Awan Lueth
A Sydney father of seven has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash allegedly caused by a driver trying to escape police on Tuesday.
Qantas traffic controller Lual Awan Lueth, 49, was heading to work at Sydney Airport when a car being monitored by police crashed into his hatchback on Great Western Hwy at St Marys about 4am.
Lueth, a refugee, was killed instantly.

“(He) doesn’t deserve it, doesn’t deserve it.”

Lueth, from South Sudan, moved to Sydney for a better life and was a proud father of seven, including a rising star for the Western Sydney Wanderers.
His youngest children still do not know their father will not be coming home.
“We haven’t told them yet,” Yuol said.
“They can see something’s not right. Everyone’s distraught.”
Lueth’s loved ones want to know if the car that allegedly caused the crash was being chased in the moments before impact.
Authorities said officers in a fully marked police vehicle saw a dark green Holden Insignia stopped on Putland St and pulled up near the sedan.
“The driver allegedly accelerated towards the Great Western Hwy, where police lost sight of the vehicle,” NSW Police said on Tuesday.
“Police followed and found the sedan had hit a silver Toyota Corolla hatchback. The driver of the Holden allegedly fled the scene on foot.”
The alleged Holden driver, a 43-year-old man, was arrested a short time later on Chapel St.
Despite allegedly running from the scene, he had suffered extensive injuries and spent the night in Nepean Hospital under police guard.
No charges have been laid.
