Traffic during the morning peak in Sydney has been thrown into chaos as emergency services cope with a man standing on the ledge of an overpass on the M4 motorway.

Major delays are being experienced around the Coleman Street overpass in Mays Hill with the M4 closed in both directions as police try to assist the man.

Police confirmed they are dealing with a ‘mental health incident’ as the knock-on effect for Sydney commuters takes effect.
