Sydney train delays: Major disruption across T1, T2, T3 services after man killed at Flemington station

Sydney’s rail network has been thrown into disarray after a man was struck and killed by a train at Flemington early this morning.
Emergency services were called to the station at 5.30am, with police treating the incident as self-harm.
Trains were diverted through Granville, Lidcombe and Strathfield, causing major delays across the western network.

“We’ve had an incident this morning involving emergency services at Flemington, and as a result of that, we’ve got impacts on the T1 and Blue Mountains line,” Mr Longland said.
“Particularly, they’re the lines that use that part of the network. We’re diverting trains around the incident. We’ve got multiple tracks through the area, which is good news, but that means those delays will flow into the T2 and the T3 … as a result of bringing those trains around under those lines, delays will then cap on to the T2 and the T3.”
He said crews were on site working to clear the line.
“As soon as we get clearance to operate trains, we’ll be back into it again. Until then, our advice for passengers is to allow extra travel time through the area.”
“Anything in that area does tend to cascade across multiple sectors — that’s what we’re seeing this morning. We’re hopeful that’ll be clear in the next hour or so, but those delays will flow through the morning peak.”
Sydney Trains earlier warned passengers on X: “Allow plenty of extra travel time due to an incident requiring emergency services at Flemington earlier. Stops may change at short notice and you may need to change to continue your journey”
