Three men charged after stabbing rampage inside Rookwood Cemetery

Police have charged three men after an alleged stabbing inside Rookwood Cemetery.

At about 1.50pm yesterday (Wednesday 14 August 2024), officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command were notified of reports a 26-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman had presented to Auburn Hospital with stab wounds.

The man was taken to another hospital for further treatment.

Police established a crime scene at Rookwood Cemetery, Rookwood and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, with the assistance of Raptor Squad.

Following inquiries, three men – two aged 27 and one aged 26 – were arrested nearby and taken to Auburn Police Station.

The two 27-year-old men were charged with affray, while the 26-year-old man was charged with affray and custody of a knife in a public place.

All three were granted conditional bail to appear before Burwood Local Court on Thursday 19 September 2024.
