Wentworthville: Pair trapped after semi-trailer collides with two hatchbacks

Emergency services have had to perform a delicate rescue operation after a truck collided with two cars, trapping the occupants of a hatchback.

The police crash investigation unit has commenced an investigation after a man was seriously injured in a crash in Sydney’s southwest.

At about 11.30pm on Monday, emergency services responded to the intersection of the Great Western Highway and Jersey Road, Wentworthville, following reports of the crash.

Officers attached to Cumberland police area command attended and found two cars and a semi-trailer truck had collided.

The passenger of a Toyota hatch, a 24-year-old man, was trapped for a substantial time where police rendered first aid before he was freed by Fire and Rescue NSW.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the hatch, a 21-year-old woman, was trapped for a short time before being freed by Fire & Rescue NSW.

She was taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

The driver of the Hyundai hatch was uninjured. The driver of the truck, a 43-year-old man, was also uninjured.
