Yass: Driver allegedly clocked doing 218km/h before testing positive for drugs, over the limit
A man has been charged with a string of serious offences after being clocked travelling at incredible speeds on a major NSW motorway.

A man has been charged with a string of serious offences after allegedly being clocked by a highway patrol unit travelling at a top speed of 218km/h.
Police took a snapshot of the speed radar reading after the driver was pulled over on a major motorway near Yass in southern NSW.
At around 12.30am on Sunday, police say a car barrelled past a stationary vehicle, which was conducting random speed checks on the Hume Highway, just north of Yass.

A pursuit ensued, and the driver was eventually stopped before officers established the 47-year-old male driver in question had not held a valid driver’s licence since 2009.
Roadside breath and drug tests then reported positive results for both, according to a police statement.
The driver was arrested and taken to Yass Police Station where he allegedly returned a reading of 0.88 grams of alcohol, and an oral fluid test allegedly returned a positive result for cannabis and methamphetamine. The results have been sent off for secondary testing.
He has been charged for driving recklessly and furiously and speeding in dangerous manner, not holding a license and driving with mid-range PCA and illicit drugs in his system.
He was granted conditional bail to appear in Yass Local Court on Thursday March 26, 2026.
