Two months after Dezi Freeman shot and killed two police officers in Porepunkah, Swift gave an interview.

It was released on YouTube on Saturday morning and includes a tour of the caravan with bullet holes.

Andrew says he was in his office when Dezi’s wife Mali called him on the morning of the shooting.

“She said, ‘Andy, come down to the bus, the police are here and they’re surrounded the bus and they’re trying to get in’,” he said.

He says he tried to reason with Dezi and when shots rang out, he thought they came from police.

“And then we don’t really know too much about what occurred in here,” he said from inside caravan.

Swift was overcome with emotion when he recalled how he came to the aid of the third officer, who was shot, but survived.

“He was wearing dark coloured pants but you could tell they were all wet from blood, from a gunshot somewhere down on his lower half,” he said.

Swift said he rushed the policeman to an awaiting ambulance.

After the incident, he was then stopped from entering his property for two weeks.

“Effects of that morning still resonate strongly with us,” he said.

Victoria Police declined to comment on the video as the case is currently before the coroner.
