Beloved grandmother Rosemary Franzidis identified as victim of Murrumba Downs crash allegedly caused by teen driver
A beloved grandmother has been identified as the victim of a horrific crash, allegedly caused by a teenager driving a stolen car.
Rosemary Franzidis, 69, died after a teen boy allegedly ran a red light in a stolen car and slammed into her vehicle in Murrumba Downs on Thursday.
Paramedics performed CPR, however, Franzidis could not be saved.

Franzidis’s devastated family said she would be remembered for her love, kindness and generosity.
“Rosemary Franzidis was a much-loved wife, mother, and grandmother, who cherished her family more than anything in the world,” her family said in a statement.
“A woman of strong faith, she had many church friends who will remember her fondly.”
“Everybody who met Rose felt her love, kindness and generosity.
“She will be extremely missed by friends and family in South Africa, United Kingdom, Australia and the USA.
“She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, three daughters, and three beautiful grandchildren.
“We request privacy at this time; we will not be doing any interviews or further media statements.”
Friends of Franzidis posted online that she had been on her way home from a church mass when she was struck.
Police say the 16-year-old was known to them and currently has matters before the court, however, he wasn’t on bail.
He was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with significant leg injuries under police guard.
Two police in a stationary unmarked police car were also injured.
Both suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
The boy has now been charged with manslaughter, armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.
He was due to appear in Brisbane Children’s Court on Friday.
It is believed the teen is linked to people inside a stolen orange Holden Hatchback, with the registration 906IP3, that was seen in the area at the time.
Anyone who sees or knows the whereabouts of the car is urged to contact triple-0 immediately.
