Couples scramble to find new wedding venue after The Lussh destroyed by fire in Woolloongabba, Brisbane
A couple whose big day was threatened by a wild inferno that tore through several buildings in Woolloongabba, in inner-city Brisbane, have tied the knot, but others remain in limbo.
One of the companies caught in Wednesday’s emergency was Hubert St wedding venue The Lussh, where Rockhampton couple Maddi and Brandon were planning to celebrate their nuptials.

“The wedding is going ahead. We have a wedding today, and we have a venue,” she said in a video posted to social media.
“I still get to marry Brandon today.”
Amid their excitement, other couples are now hunting for a new venue.
“It’s just waiting our turn until it comes around,” groom Michael Ward, who will marry his fiancée in just over a month, told 7NEWS.
“We’ve got family coming from all over the world. There’s houses that have been booked, hotels that have been booked and those things have to be adjusted.”
Another couple, Nathan Crawford and Maddison Sullivan, has spent thousands on their fairytale wedding in November but there is currently nowhere to host the celebration.
“I’m sure wherever we get married will be just as beautiful and just as perfect but it is sad to pivot from that original vision,” Sullivan said.
Lussh was one of three buildings destroyed when a blaze erupted at the abandoned Chalk Hotel.
The fire claimed an empty dental lab before spreading to the heritage-listed brick building on Wednesday night.
Fire investigators have wrapped up their examination and say all three buildings are so extensively damaged it is impossible to tell what actually started the blaze.
Police have confirmed they are no longer searching for a missing man.
