A father and his two children killed in a two-car crash northwest of Toowoomba have been identified.

The family of four was travelling along Dalby-Jandowae Rd at Jimbour East when their sedan was allegedly rear-ended by a LandCruiser ute about 11am on Monday, police said.

Backseat passengers, 15-year-old Ocean and eight-year-old Warrior sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

Their father, Phil, 54, who was sitting in the front seat, was also killed.

Mother, Krystal, was flown to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with life-threatening abdominal and chest injuries.

The man behind the wheel of the LandCruiser ute suffered back injuries and was taken to Toowoomba Hospital in a serious but non-life-threatening condition.

Queensland Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Acting Inspector Greg Wheeler said on Monday, first responders were met with “traumatic” scenes.

Local Red Clark told 7NEWS the town was devastated over the deaths.

He described the children killed as “good, quiet kids”.
