Queensland Police have issued an emergency alert for residents to ‘leave immediately’ after a serious crash involving a hazardous materials truck on Friday.

The hazardous chemical incident occurred on the Bruce Highway between Daisy Dell Road and Turkey Beach Road at Bororen and a 2.5-kilometre exclusion zone is now in place.

Residents within the exclusion zone are being advised to leave immediately but if for any reason they cannot emergency services are to shelter indoors, close your windows and doors, and turn off your air conditioning.

One person has been treated for life-threatening injuries at the scene of the horror crash between a truck and a ute.

At least two people were seriously injured when the truck carrying hazardous materials crashed into the ute on the Bruce Hwy near Gladstone at about 5am.

The crash closed all lanes of the highway near Daisy Dell Rd at Bororen.

Paramedics are treating one person with life-threatening injuries, and another person in a serious but stable condition.

A rescue helicopter is heading to the crash site.
