Edwards, a nurse, was drinking heavily on the day she decided to go to the home about 11pm on March 7, her sentencing in the Queensland District Court heard in Brisbane on Tuesday.
She appeared to case the house before going to her car to get a knife, CCTV played to the court shows.
She attempted to repeatedly stab her 29-year-old victim through the home’s screen door.
The man was able to avoid any wounding injuries from Edwards’ attack.
Police arrived minutes later and arrested her.
The court heard police had investigated the rape allegations against the man but did not have enough evidence to charge him.
Judge John Allen conceded Edwards’ offending was out of character and noted she had no criminal history.
He took into account the three months she had served in pre-sentence custody, before handing her a 12-month suspended jail sentence.
