Mum-of-seven identified as driver killed in Mother’s Day crash in the Gold Coast
The 41-year-old was heading home from a Mother’s Day market when tragedy struck.

The friends and family of a single mother-of-seven have been left heartbroken after she was killed in a car crash on Mother’s Day.
Rebecca Hayes, 41, was travelling home with her 11-year-old daughter from a Mother’s Day Market in Tambourine Mountain, in the Gold Coast Hinterland, last Sunday.
While driving along Maudsland Rd about 12pm, her Mitsubishi ASX was involved in a horror collision with a Mazda BT-50 utility and a Mazda 3.

Her daughter was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition, which has since been downgraded to stable.
The 19-year-old male ute driver was also rushed to hospital with serious abdominal injuries while the two occupants of the Mazda were hospitalised as a precaution.
The sudden death of Hayes sent shockwaves through the local community, with Kieara Anderson remembering her as “one of the most devoted mums you could ever meet”.
“Bec was the definition of selfless, a fiercely loving single mother who dedicated every part of herself to her children,” Anderson said.
“Her babies were her entire world and anyone who knew Bec knew how hard she fought every single day to provide a safe, loving and happy home for them.
“She gave absolutely everything she had to her family.”

Anderson has launched a GoFundMe to help Hayes’ family navigate the future after having their worlds “turned upside down in an instant”.
“There are simply no words that could ever explain the heartbreak these children are now facing. To lose your mum is unimaginable,” Anderson said.
“But to lose her on a day meant to celebrate her love makes this tragedy even more painful.”
Queensland Police told 7NEWS.com.au that investigations into the crash remain ongoing.
Initial inquires indicate the ute may have veered onto the wrong side of the road, according to Assistant Officer Superintendent Brett Jacksony.
“It was a traumatic scene for motorists and nearby residents and emergency services,” he said, according to the ABC.
“This lady was a mother, our thoughts are with her family.”
The teenage ute driver has been cooperating with investigations. No charges have been laid.
