A truck driver has charged after a shocking crash left a motorcyclist fighting for life in Adelaide.

At 3.30pm on Thursday, emergency services were called to Shepherds Hill Rd in Blackwood following reports of a crash between a truck and motorcyclist.

The motorcycle rider, a 46-year-old man from Blackwood, sustained serious injuries in the crash and was rushed to hospital.

His bike could be seen wedged under the back of the truck.

The motorcyclist remains in a critical condition in hospital.

The truck driver, a 38-year-old man from Holden Hill, was not injured and he has since been charged with causing serious harm by dangerous driving.

He was also issued with an immediate loss of licence.

The truck driver was released on bail and is due to front the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on July 31.
