A truck failed to stop at an intersection, striking multiple cars before smashing through a school in Sydney’s south.

Emergency crews worked to free the driver of the truck, who became trapped after smashing into a school building in Moorebank.

Early information indicates the truck driver failed to stop at an intersection on Newbridge Rd and Nuwarra Rd in Moorebank about 1pm on Saturday.

Police said they are trying to rule out whether or not the driver suffered a medical episode.

“He’s gone off the road, crashed into the gate at the local church and then finished underneath a classroom at the school,” Sergeant Shaun Colls said.

No children were at the school, believed to be St Joseph’s Primary School.

“Thankfully, it is a weekend,” he said.

There are reports of up to a dozen cars being struck as the truck careened through the intersection, with paramedics treating four patients, which include the male truck driver.

A woman in her 20s, a man in his 30s and a woman in her 70s were all taken to Liverpool Hospital. No-one was seriously injured, including the driver.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
