Essendon: Police try to identify body found in park lake near children’s playground

A body has been pulled from a lake, just metres from a popular children's playground in

Police are trying to identify a body that was found floating in a suburban park lake in Melbourne on Sunday.

Emergency services removed the body from the lake which is adjacent to a children’s playground at Woodlands in Essendon around 11am.

Police told 7NEWS that the person had not yet been identified and their cause of death was not yet known.

“Inquiries remain ongoing,” Victoria Police said.
