Man arrested after alleged daylight shooting near Broadmeadows Shopping Centre in Melbourne leaves young man critical
A man has been taken into custody one day after an alleged shooting in broad daylight left a 22-year-old man fighting for life in Melbourne’s north.
The 31-year-old Glenroy man was arrested on Monday following investigations into the alleged attack in a park opposite Broadmeadows Shopping Centre about 3.45pm on Sunday.

A witness said the victim was shot twice in broad daylight.
“It looked like they were about to fight, but then he pulled out, like, a weapon, and then, yeah, I heard the gunshot,” Tahir Mollah said.


“It was quite loud. It was like two big bangs happened right next to me. It was quite horrific. Like, a lot of people were here. A lot of police came in quickly.”
The 22-year-old Meadow Heights man was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in a critical condition.
Police swarmed a property on Bindi St in Glenroy on Sunday night, searching for the gunman, but didn’t make any arrests until Monday.
Detectives believe the men knew each other and the shooting was targeted.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has CCTV, video footage or information is urged to come forward.
