Man seriously injured in machete attack on Barkly St, St Kilda
A man has been seriously injured in a terrifying machete attack on a busy street in St Kilda, Melbourne.
The 39-year-old from St Albans was walking down Barkly St about 9.15pm on Sunday when he was approached by a man and a woman who demanded he hand over his car keys.

As the victim tries to run away he is followed by the man and struck by the machete.
He eventually manages to flee as the two offenders are seen running off through a nearby park.
The victim was left bleeding heavily from his head, using his T-shirt to stop the blood.
Several people who witnessed the attack stayed with the victim and called triple-0.
One told 7NEWS the machete used was “huge”.
“Like literally the size of my elbow,” Gurvir Grewal said.
“There was a lot of blood.”
He said the victim looked anxious, but was still able to talk to those helping him.
The man was rushed to the Alfred Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries where he remains in a stable condition.
On Monday, police arrested a 15-year-old boy at Southern Cross Station about 12.30pm.
He was taken into custody while police continue to search for the woman.
“The investigation remains ongoing,” police said.
