A man has been stabbed on a busy street in Melbourne’s southeast.

Police say the man, in his 30s, was stabbed by an unknown offender on Chapel St in South Yarra just before 8am on Wednesday.

He was taken to hospital with a non-life-threatening injury to his lower body.

It’s believed the two people involved may be known to each other.

“Police are currently making enquiries into the whereabouts of the offender and an investigation is underway,” Victoria Police said.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV or dashcam footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
