Khye’s organs have been donated, saving four lives and giving sight to two other people, the Herald Sun reports.

A GoFundMe has been launched by Safeworking Solutions, where Khye’s father Lee works, to support the family.

So far, close to $50,000 has been donated.

“With heavy hearts, we share the tragic loss of 12-year-old Khye Brickell, beloved son of Lee and Kim, and cherished brother,” a note from the campaign organiser said.

“As they navigate this unimaginable grief, we want to come together to support them during this difficult time.

“This Christmas, let’s help Lee and Kim take the time they need to heal with their family.

“Donations will ease the financial burden of funeral expenses and daily costs, allowing them to focus on what matters most: each other.”

Khye’s death has triggered a wave of tributes on social media, including his school who said the young boy “will always be in our hearts”.

“It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Khye, a beloved Year 6 student at Mill Park Primary School, who tragically lost his life in an accident on Wednesday evening,” the school shared on Facebook.

“Khye joined our school in Prep and was known for his kindness, bright smile, and caring nature.

“He brought joy to everyone around him and will be deeply missed by his classmates, teachers, and all who knew him.

“Our thoughts are with Khye’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.

“Rest peacefully, Khye. You will always be in our hearts.”

Khye was a member of multiple sporting clubs, with his teammates now in mourning. The Northern BMX Club said the Brickell family were foundation members whose “dedication and passion” was instrumental for the sport in the region.

“Though they have taken a break from BMX recently, the impact of the entire family on our club’s formation is immeasurable. Their commitment as a family to Northern BMX will forever be etched in our hearts,” the club said.

“Even in this tragedy, Khye’s spirit of generosity shines through. At just 12 years old, his selfless decision to be an organ donor has already saved lives of other children, a testament to his incredible character.

“Khye, you will forever be remembered in our hearts, your infectious enthusiasm and bright smile will be deeply missed by all who knew you. Ride on, little champion.”

The South Morang Football Club and the The Mill Park Blazers Basketball Club, where Khye also played, also shared the tragic news and offered its condolences to the junior athlete’s family.
