A woman is fighting for life after she was hit by a vehicle on a NSW highway.

The 45-year-old woman was struck on the Pacific Hwy at Kanwal — on the Central Coast — about 6.30pm on Wednesday.

She was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle was taken by police to Wyong Hospital for mandatory testing.

NSW Police are investigating the incident and urge anyone with relevant information to come forward.
