Australian actor Guy Pearce and Game of Thrones star Carice van Houten have confirmed they are no longer in a relationship.

Van Houten shared a statement with her 1.1 million Instagram followers on Wednesday.

“I don’t usually engage in discussions about my personal life, but because of a number of conclusions in the media last week regarding my relationship with Guy, I wanted to make something clear - He and I are great friends and love each other very much, but we haven’t been a ‘couple’ for years,” she said.

The pair started dating just months after Pearce split from his ex-wide Kate Mestitz in 2015.

Van Houten and Pearce went on to have a child together named Monte who was born in 2016.

Rumours that their relationship might be over began swirling after an interview earlier this month when Pearce confessed Ms Mestitz was the “greatest love of my life.”

“My ex-wife Kate was the greatest love of my life, but I’ve moved on from her now and the greatest love of my life is my child Monte,” he told The Guardian.

Ms Mestitz and Pearce first met in school when they were 12 years old, they married in 1997 and share no children together.
