David Harbour is not having a good time.

The Stranger Things actor has left the upcoming movie Behemoth despite already having filmed scenes late last year. There had been paparazzi photos of Harbour in character and in costume in a scene alongside Olivia Wilde.

While actors often sign up to and drop out of roles, exiting a project after filming had started is still uncommon. The reason for the move has not been confirmed.

He will be replaced by Will Arnett in the movie, which is directed by Tony Gilroy (Andor, Michael Clayton) and with Pedro Pascal in the lead role.

Harbour has become a controversial public figure after estranged wife Lily Allen released her new album in October, which detailed accusations of betrayal and alleged poor behaviour during their four-year marriage.

Allen’s fired-up record tore strips off Harbour, and public perception of the actor has plummeted since.

She told British Vogue just before its release, “There are things that are on the record that I experienced within my marriage, but that’s not to say it’s all gospel. It is inspired by what went on in the relationship.”

The timing was particularly bad for Harbour, who was about to hit the promotional trail for the final season of Stranger Things.

To compound things, a British tabloid reported that there had been a bullying and harassment complaint from co-star Millie Bobby Brown against Harbour, filed before filming for the fifth season began.

Brown, Harbour and Netflix didn’t address the media report but at the Stranger Things premiere, Brown and Harbour deliberately posed for a red carpet photo together, smiles plastered on their faces.

Among the 500 or so photos from the event that were uploaded to the Netflix media site, the only other images of Harbour were either with big all-in group shots with the series’ large ensemble cast, or ones in which he posed with Brown and Netflix executives.

He did not seem to have posed for photos with any other cast members, including his frequent scene partner, Winona Ryder.

Harbour was also largely absent from the promotional tour and did few interviews or media appearances.
