Wicked: For Good drops first trailer giving glimpse of Dorothy’s arrival

If you didn’t get enough earnest sentimentality from last year’s blockbuster promotional tour for Wicked, it’s about to come back around.
With the release of the first trailer for the second Wicked movie, we have now officially entered another hype era. There is sure to be more holding, both space and hands.
Wicked: For Good is due out in November, the conclusion to Jon M. Chu’s movie adaptation of the Broadway musical, itself inspired by Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, which was, of course, based on Frank L. Baum’s original Wizard of Oz book.

The first movie ended where the stage production breaks for intermission, and Wicked: For Good will pick up from the moment Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, exposes the Wizard for his political machinations.
She has now been branded an enemy of the state, a boogeyman scapegoat for the Wizard to rally support for his discriminatory and authoritarian policies by exploiting fear of the other.
The trailer, which runs for almost three minutes gives glimpses of what to expect, including the arrival of Dorothy, who is tasked by the Wizard to retrieve Elphaba’s broom, as well teasing plot beats to do with Prince Fiyero, and Glinda’s friendship with Elphaba.
The cast includes Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Marissa Bode, Ethan Slater and Bowen Yang.
