Jeremy Renner says Disney offered him half his salary for Hawkeye season two

If you’re wondering why we didn’t get a second season of the pretty good Hawkeye streaming series, Jeremy Renner is spilling the tea.
The Marvel actor said Disney lowballed him on salary, offering only half of what he was paid for the first season.
He told the High Performance podcast, “They asked me to do season two and they offered me half the money. I’m like, wow, it’s going to take me twice the amount of work for half the money, eight months of my time, essentially, and you do it for half the amount?

Renner was referring to his accident on New Year’s Day in 2023 when he was crushed by a snow vehicle on his property in Nevada. His severe injuries included 38 broken bones. In his memoirs, Renner said he believed he briefly died while waiting for emergency services.

A year after the accident, he hopped back on the snow vehicle to confront his fears.
Renner played the character of Hawkeye/Clint Barton in five Marvel movies, a season of Hawkeye and voiced the character in four episodes of the animated series What If.
Elaborating further, he said the salary decision came from the money men at the studio.
“This is not Marvel,” he claimed. “My juice is like this is Disney — not even really Disney, it’s just the penny pinchers, the accountants. I told him to go fly a kite at the insult offer. So, we didn’t see eye-to-eye on it, sadly.
“I still love the character, I would still love to do it, but I had to defend myself. I didn’t ask for any more money, mind you. Just pay me what you paid me the first season. So, it’s a little disheartening that didn’t happen but that’s fine. I’m happy to let that go, because my body is probably thanking me that I’m not doing that right now.”

Hawkeye was six-episode, Christmas-themed series that was released in November 2021. It featured Clint in New York City as he meets a young woman, Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), who becomes his protégé.
