Well, that’s an insane amount of famous guest stars.

Every year, Only Murders in the Building promises a roster of talent and every year, it delivers.

The trailer for the upcoming fifth season just dropped and it’s a cavalcade of recognisable faces, even beyond the usual players of Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez. For one thing, Nathan Lane, Richard Kind and Oscar winners Meryl Streep and Da’Vine Joy Randolph are back, but they’ll be joined by quite a few more friends.

There’s Bobby Cannavale, who seems to be playing a mobster, plus Renee Zellweger, Christoph Waltz and Logan Lerman, who are introduced as three of the richest people in the world sniffing around the murder scene.

Then there’s also Keegan-Michael Key, Beanie Feldstein, Dianne Wiest, Tea Leoni and Jermaine Fowler.

With all that going on, do you even need a murder mystery to propel the story along? OK, fine, but only because it’s in the title.

Fans will remember that the previous season ended with the death of the Arconia’s affable doorman Lester, who was found slumped in the building’s central courtyard fountain, his blood staining the water red.

The police initially rule it as an accident, but our sleuthing trio know better – also, there wouldn’t be a show if it was. Shenanigans will reign but, if past performance is an indicator of future results, Charles, Oliver and Mabel will get the killer.

The fifth season premieres on Disney+ with September 9 with a three-episode drop and then weekly instalments.
