He’s best known for playing Jimmy Proudman for seven seasons of the hit Aussie drama, Offspring, and for his role in the Netflix hit, Apple Cider Vinegar. But get ready to see Rick Davies in a brand new role, as he joins the cast of RFDS as Fire and Rescue Officer, Ryan.

The casting news comes as a new promo for the most recent season hits screens, hinting there will be drama aplenty when the show returns soon.

Much of that drama will involve Davies’ character, who we learn is now dating Eliza (Emma Hamilton) after Pete (Stephen Peacoke) left town.

“Ryan, a figure trusted when disaster strikes in Broken Hill, suddenly finds himself navigating the toughest challenge of all: holding onto Eliza as her ex-partner Pete returns to town and threatens to pull her away,” an insider told The Sunday Times.

Davies, a veteran of Aussie TV, said he was thrilled to be joining the long-running drama.

“I was already a massive fan of the show and to get the nod was a real thrill,” he said.

“Some of the cast, like Stephen, were pre-existing mates and I made some really special new buddies too.

“To play a fire and rescue officer and step into a world of incredible scripts, brilliant and resourceful production values and to pay homage to our phenomenal first responders was a privilege.”

Davies promises there will be plenty of juicy storylines ahead for his character — Eliza and Pete stans: brace yourself.

“Ryan slots in quickly and finds his groove through some special friendships and a romantic relationship with the established characters,” Davies said.

“Without giving too much away on the new season, Ryan has his fair share of action and romance-based highs and lows this season.”

The third season of RFDS is coming soon to Seven and 7Plus.
