The next twisted holiday for The White Lotus is looking très chic.

Mike White and HBO have set their sights on France as the backdrop for Season 4 of the award-winning murder mystery dramedy, according to industry sources.

While HBO is keeping quiet, speculation has already shifted to the Riviera’s most glamorous address: the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, a Four Seasons property perched on the tip of the Cap-Ferrat peninsula with Cannes just down the road.

It would continue HBO’s fruitful partnership with the luxury hotel chain, which has doubled as the fictional White Lotus resorts since the series began.

But insiders caution that nothing is locked in yet.

As with Season 3’s Thailand arc, the show may once again use multiple resorts, not just one Four Seasons property, for its lavish and lethal setting.

France has three Four Seasons locations in the running: the Parisian classic Hotel George V, the alpine ski haven Megève, and the Riviera’s Cap-Ferrat, Deadline noted.

Each offers White a different canvas and potential for chaos.

The Cap-Ferrat keeps the coastal glamour consistent with Hawaii, Sicily, and Koh Samui. Megève offers a sharp detour into snowy slopes, but that may be unlikely given White’s well-known dislike of the cold. Paris, meanwhile, would be a radical shift, the show’s first urban setting, trading infinity pools for grand boulevards.

“For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular but there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels,” White teased at the end of Season 3.

Whether he’s softened on snow or still dreaming of Riviera sunsets remains to be seen.

HBO and White had planned to scout locations in the spring before pushing back to summer, with cameras potentially rolling by May next year.
